Statement - Canadian Peace Congress
July 8, 2008
For Immediate Release
The minority Conservative Government has no mandate under the Canadian Constitution to permit US Government or military law to prevail in Canada and override the will of Parliament, the decisions of the Federal Court and the majority public opinion of the Canadian people.
The Canadian Peace Congress demands that Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Immigration Minister Dianne Finley uphold Canadian sovereignty, respect public opinion, uphold the will of Parliament and the decisions of the Federal Court of Canada and halt all deportation proceedings against Robin Long, Corey Glass and other US War Resistors who have refused to participate in the illegal US-NATO war of aggression in Iraq and have sought refuge in Canada.
