Canadian Peace Congress The Canadian Peace Congress hosted the 2nd Tri-Lateral Conference with our fraternal intenational organizations in the US and Mexico which was held in Toronto ON October 2-4, 2009.
The World Peace Council expresses for one more time its strong, solid support and solidarity, to the people of Cyprus in its peaceful struggle against occupation, for liberation and lasting peace.
We condemn the continuing for more than 35 years Turkish Occupation of the 37% of Cyprus, as a result of imperialist interventions and the barbaric Turkish Invasion in 1974.
The World Peace Council (WPC) demands the application of all resolutions regarding Cyprus problem that have been taken by the United Nations Organization and the Security Council.
The WPC demands the termination of Turkish Occupation, the withdrawal from the Island of each foreign army, including British Bases, and the respect of all human rights of all Cypriots.
We strongly support the procedure of direct negotiations between the two leaders of Greek - Cypriot and Turkish – Cypriot communities, that have started in September of 2008, and we happily observe that important progress has been achieved.
At the same time we condemn the attitude of Turkey that not only denies complying with the international resolutions, but also applies tight limitations at the Turkish - Cypriot Community leader regarding the direct negotiation procedure between two Communities. This is making the effort of the two Community leaders to achieve a fair solution very difficult and undermines peace.
The World Peace Council states with emphasis that supports the President and the Government of Cyprus, in their huge effort for a solution of a Bi-zonal, Bi-communal Federation with one Sovereignty, one Citizenship, one International entity, that will ensure all the human rights of all Cypriots, and will be truly reuniting the Country and its people.
