It is with extreme sadness that we received the news of the death of the great fighter for peace, Manuel Terrazas Guerrero.

Manuel Terrazas life is fully interwoven with the struggle for a world with more democracy, social justice and above all, a world of peace and brotherhood among peoples.

He was a founder of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (JCP) and early active militant in the struggle for peace and solidarity between the peoples of the world. He was also leader of the World Peace Council (CMP) and president of the Mexican Movement for Peace and Development - MOMPADE.

Terrazas had done the cause of peace and solidarity among the people the reason of his life - links the struggle against war with the struggle for emancipation and liberation of people, always saying that could not have peace as long as imperialism continues to oppress the people around the world.

In recognition of his dedication and commitment to social change, the Mexican people had elected him three times a congressman, and he became one of the most respected personalities in Mexican political life.

He had been always speaking as a fighter for peace, sovereignty and solidarity among peoples. His name is among the greatest of this century, the example of his life of dedication and struggle are the inspiration for thousands of peacekeepers around the world. The name of Manuel Terrazas will be present forever in the Pantheon of fighters and peace builders relations internationalist and fraternal solidarity.

The World Peace Council expresses its deepest gratitude for the Terrazas life of dedication and struggle for a world free of oppression and wars, for the Great internationalist fighter conmarade Manuel Terrazas.

Dear comrades and friends
 
We have the sad duty to inform you about the loss of our comrade Manuel Terrazas,President of the MOMPADE Mexico, for many years Vice-president of WPC and beloved comrade of all of us.
 
Comrade Manuel left us on the 4th January 2010,after few days in Hospital with a heart attack.
 
All the WPC is in deep grief and sorrow about his death. He played active role  and contributed to the International anti-imperialist movement from his youth ages till today.He shall be remembered as an example for the future generations.
 
Please find attched the statement of the WPC on the loss of our beloved comrade Manuel Terrazas Guerrero.
