US imperialism is preparing for war on China with 2027 as the target date. The chosen date is based on alleged and unconfirmed remarks by People’s Republic of China’s President Xi Jinping regarding plans to invade China’s own provincial territory, the island of Taiwan

USA Navy Chief of Operations Admiral Lisa Franchetti released her blueprint for yet another imperialist war titled “America’s Warfighting Navy” on January 9, 2024 at the Surface Navy Association National Symposium In Arlington, Virginia. This document outlines the strategic military goals the USA must achieve in order to attack the People’s Republic of China

American, NATO, and AUKUS aggression is always brought to you wearing the mantle of peace! But this document strays into the truth when the Admiral adds that the US navy will respond to crisis (created by whom) and “win decisively in war.” In her own words “We deliver power for peace, but are always ready to fight and win as part as part of the Joint Force and along side our allies and partners.”

US imperialism and it’s aggressive military alliances have only one purpose and that is war. They have absolutely no interest in peace.

In specific reference to the allies, including Canada, she notes that “We will design and drive interoperability with our Allies and partners to deliver combined lethality.” This is important because it helps understand why the Cdn Government is in such a rush to build 15 warships and join AUKUS.

Historically the USA has relied heavily on its sea and air power to invade and conquer always in the name of peace. In terms of naval power the U.S. is now faced with “a troubled shipbuilding industry”. In addition, it is experiencing “historically low recruitment” issues.

In the 1980s the USA had 300 shipyards. Today it has “around 20.” In addition, its maintenance capacity is hindered by fewer floating docks used to repair destroyers and submarines.

Currently the imperialist navy has some 300 war ships of which 100 are continuously deployed. Franchetti wants to increase this number of ships to 381. But do not be fooled. We must always remember that NATO navies are linked to Washington dramatically increasing its overall naval capabilities.

US strategy in the South China Sea is to surround the People’s Republic of China. Historically the US developed three rings of military bases including in Japan, South Korea, Philippines and New Zealand. Most recently Australia, the United Kingdom and the USA  have joined forces to create the aggressive block known as AUKUS specifically to threaten China. Plans are underway to enhance AUKUS by bringing Japan, South Korea New Zealand and Canada into the organization.

From AUKUS to CAUKUS: According to Collin Dueck (American Enterprise Institute) and Alexander Gray (Legatum Institute) there are several reasons to include Canada. World-leading expertise in “artificial intelligence, counter-hypersonic missile technology and cyber”. Two other major reason given is “vast reserves of critical minerals—and its capacity to extract, process, and recycle them” and Canada’s geography. Canada’s “access to and knowledge of the Arctic will be a significant assets to AUKUS”. But all this depends on “Canada’s willingness to finally get serious about its overall level of defence spending.”

For his part War Minister Bill Blair announced on September 13, 2024 that Canada is “In discussion about joining an expanded AUKUS” in what is being described as the “second pillar” of the military alliance. This falls in line with numerous statements and objectives coming out of the NATO summit in July 2024. One key decision was to find ways to boost industrial and recruitment capacity to enable Canada to fight a prolonged conventional war.

The Canadian Peace Congress opposed the creation and strengthening of AUKUS.  Further we condemn any efforts to include Canada or other countries in this aggressive military alliance. Imperialist designs to go to war with China can only be accomplished by bringing organizations like NATO and AUKUS on board. It is for this reason that our Congress has been working to break the NATO chains that bind us to Washington. The Canadian people do not need or want another set of shackles which will only guarantee that we will be involved in virtually every imperialist war going forward.

Canada needs an independent foreign policy base on peace, disarmament and solidarity. People have a right to live in peace. Nations have a right to peaceful coexistence.

NO TO WAR WITH CHINA
NO TO CANADA JOINING AUKUS
CANADA OUT OF NATO, NORAD, FIVE EYES
YES TO PEACE
PEACE IS EVERYBODY’S BUSINESS
