End Canadian Diplomatic Cover for US-Israel Aggression Against Iran!

On February 28, 2026 US imperialism and its ally Israel launched an unprovoked and illegal war on the Iranian people. This flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter took place under the cover of so-called “negotiations” between representatives of the Iranian government and the Trump White House.
The negotiation ruse was used to allow time for imperialist forces to move into offensive positions. In the first wave of attacks top Iranian government and military leadership were murdered, along with numerous civilian targets, including the Saharan Tayyebeh elementary girls school in Minab, Hormozgan province. Since then, more than 13,000 strikes have been carried out against Iran by the US and Israel.
The US and Israel have tried to justify this war on the grounds of preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. This phony excuse follows a repeated pattern of inventing pretexts for naked aggression. Remember the false Gulf of Tonkin incident, the non-existent ‘weapons of mass destruction’ of Iraq, or the false claims that Afghanistan was responsible for the attacks in New York in 2001.
In reality, imperialism seeks to control West Asia for its vast natural resources and its critical trade routes Crucially, this means not only ensuring energy resources for the U.S. and its NATO allies but, also, as a way of denying resources to China, the major peer competitor and ultimate target for Yankee imperialism.
The latest aggression against Iran is not a spur-of-the-moment Trumpian action – it dates back decades. Remember Operation Ajax, by which the UK and the USA overthrew the democratically elected government of Mohammad Mosaddegh in 1953. Note also US support for Saddam Hussein in the 1980-1989 Iran-Iraq War. More recently, the US strategy in West Asia against Iran is well documented in the 2009 Brookings Institution document entitled “The Path to Persia”. Whichever political party controls the US government, the policy of attacking Iran is ever present.
The Canadian Peace Congress denounces the US/Israeli aggression against the people of Iran, and we call for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the region. We express our solidarity with the people of Iran who are engaged in actions of self-defense against this illegal war of aggression.
In this context, the long-standing and well-known position of the Peace Congress in support of the people’s struggles for democracy and human rights in all countries is well known and does not need repetition. The United States and Israel have no interest in the well-being of the peoples of the world. At this dangerous moment, ending the attacks against Iran – including US threats to destroy the entire Iranian civilization – ending the war must be the immediate and urgent demand.
The Canadian Peace Congress also condemns the Carney government for its initial statement of support for U.S.-Israeli aggression against Iran. Such diplomatic cover for this illegal war demonstrates the extent to which Canada remains committed to imperialist aggression by the USA and Israel. Far from standing up for the UN Charter and the sovereignty of states, Carney has demonstrated that he remains an obedient junior partner to the USA in its continuous efforts to dominate and destroy other countries.
End the imperialist/Zionist war of aggression against Iran!
End Canadian diplomatic cover for American and Israeli wars!
Canada Out of NATO, NORAD and The Five Eyes!
